ART BASEL MIAMI BEACH!!!!!

Art Basel was this weekend and it was FANTASTIC!  I saw some amazing art and some super lame,  lame, rank and lame "art."  When a framed piece of canvas has 5 slash marks and sells for thousands of dollars, I get angry.  Mind you, the already white canvas was painted white, then the "artist" sliced through it five times.  I am clearly not a fan of conceptual art.  Take my mind on a journey.  Allow me to discover something, feel something besides the desire to knit my brow and stare at the "artist" shaking my head, slowly.

All of my annoyance aside, I was inspired.  By the good work and the bad.  "Debating art is like debating the best way to make love," or something like that.  The aforementioned is a quote-ish from a well known artist, whose name escapes me.  But that mystery man is exactly right.  It is possible to recognize talent and wit, but that doesn't mean you'll like what you are looking at.  This makes me think of my best friend, Beyonce.  We all know she's insanely talented but there are some people who can't stand her voice!  And, like my 86 year old neighbor says, "you have to be crazy to argue with fools."

[p.s. The beautiful city of Miami has made me appreciate Los Angeles drivers.  I KNOW!!!!!  I never thought that would happen either.  It took some reeeeeeally horrid experiences to make the poop that is LA driving look like bronze.]
